Helmut Degner

Helmut Degner (born March 24, 1929 in Vienna , † December 2, 1996 in Munich ; pseudonym : Helmut Anders ) was an Austrian writer and translator .

Life

Helmut Degner was a local reporter for an Austrian newspaper until the early 1960s . From 1961 he worked as a lecturer at the Hamburg publishing house Rütten & Loening , and from 1963 as chief editor in Munich . In 1979 he took part in the Ingeborg Bachmann Competition in Klagenfurt . Degner last lived as a freelance writer in Munich.

Helmut Degner was the author of narrative works and also translated from English .

He was a member of the Graz Authors' Assembly and received, among other things, the sponsorship award of the Upper Austrian Culture Ring in 1954, the sponsorship award of the Munich Year of Literature in 1980 and an Austrian state grant for literature.
