The Grootmoor grammar school is a grammar school in the Hamburg district of Bramfeld , on the border with Wellingsbüttel . In the 2019/20 school year , 1212 students attended the Grootmoor grammar school, supervised by 101 teachers . As in previous years, this made the school the second largest grammar school in Hamburg in terms of the number of pupils , behind the Ohmoor grammar school. The Grootmoor grammar school has a musical - scientific - linguistic focus. The school is an environmental (since 2002) and UNESCO school (since 2009).

building

The main building of the Grootmoors grammar school is the break hall with the adjoining administration and music wing in the south-west of the school grounds. In the 2000s, the break hall was expanded in order to be able to offer lunch and hold school events. This expansion was two-thirds financed by the City of Hamburg and one third by the school development association Association of Friends of the high school Grootmoor eV In addition has been extended with the support of the school association, among others, the music wing in the school year 2013/2014 to another classroom. Since 2018, the school association has also been collecting donations in order to build a new cafeteria east of the sports hall on the school premises.

The central teaching building of the grammar school is a three-story class house of type 68 (double-H) built in the 1970s, a series school building built more than 50 times in Hamburg, in which the classes of the lower and middle grades are housed. This was expanded by a two-story extension in the inner courtyard and a three-story extension at the south entrance of the building. In addition to other classrooms, there is also a small student library.

In addition, there is a smaller classroom building in which the upper school classes are housed, as well as a specialized building in which there are classrooms for science subjects, computer science classes and art classes. In the specialist building there is also a small lecture hall, the so-called studio stage , in which plays are performed by the theater group every school year. For sporting activities there is a large three-field hall , various athletics facilities and a soccer field as well as a beach volleyball field on the school premises .

classes

All grade levels from 5th to Abitur are offered. In 2010 the last 13th year passed and the first 12th. Because of the shorter way to school, the upper level profile was designed and introduced in 2009.

Spring classes

One of the school's long-term projects is the jumpers ' classes, of which there is usually one in every year. These classes, which are formed at the end of the orienteering career, skip the 8th class together.
