Also in 2018, the Ohlstedt high school received the seal of quality as a MINT- friendly school, after receiving a sponsorship award from the Claussen Simon Foundation for the concept of a MakerLab in 2017 .

As the first state high school in Germany, chess was introduced as a school subject at the Ohlstedt high school in 2014. In 2017 the school was recognized as a German Chess School.

history

Due to the sharp increase in the number of pupils, the Ohlstedt high school was founded in February 1970 as the third high school in the Hamburg forest villages . In April 1970 the first two fifth grades with 64 students started school. Since there was no school building of their own, they were initially guests in pavilions on the grounds of the Walddörfer Gymnasium .

In 1971 the school moved to pavilions on the grounds of the Schule am Walde in Ohlstedt, before moving into pavilions in 1972 on the grounds of the school on Stahmerstrasse.

In 1980 the first students did their Abitur at the Gymnasium Ohlstedt. The pupils of the founding year did their Abitur at the surrounding high schools, because after the 10th grade there was not a sufficient number of pupils to form the reformed upper level.

The first headmaster was Hans-Walter Sönnichsen from the foundation until 1995. He was followed by Claus-Peter Brinkmann, who was replaced by Hendrik Löns in 2016.

building

In 1973 the first building was completed in the double-H design that was customary for new schools in Hamburg.

A first sports hall was inaugurated in 1977. This was replaced in 2014 by a three-field sports hall. In addition, the high school has had two multifunctional playing fields in the schoolyard since 2015.

The school also has a building with specialist rooms and the main building with a break hall, administration, etc.
