The grammar school Blankenese is a state new language grammar school founded in 1892 in Hamburg-Blankenese .
history
The grammar school Blankenese is a grammar school created by a citizens' initiative . Despite the two world wars, it was able to preserve its traditional architecture school buildings. When it was founded in 1892, the grammar school was purely a boys' grammar school with initially 77 students and three teachers. At first it only consisted of today's lower level building on Kahlkamp. In 1894 the red brick building on Oesterleystraße was occupied. In 1952 the school got its own school swimming pool. From 1968 boys and girls studied together at the Blankenese grammar school. In 1977 the connecting wing between the main and the auxiliary building was completed. The buildings were extensively renovated between 2005 and 2006. The school was expanded by four classrooms in 2017 through an extension on the school premises. In 2017, the school hit the headlines when it had to return buildings to the responsible school building in Hamburg as part of a recalculation of the school area per student. In the case of the Blankenese grammar school, it was a toilet block .
building
The building on Oesterleystraße was built between 1893 and 1894 according to a design by the building councilor Greve; it was expanded in 1904 and 1906. In 1925 a renovation followed by the Hamburg architect Walther Baedeker . All parts of the building are now a listed building .
The stumbling block for Bruno Nehmert, who was a Nazi-critical teacher at the school, lies in front of the school entrance .
