The Osterbek grammar school is a state grammar school in Hamburg-Bramfeld . It was founded in 1971 on Hermelinweg as the "Gymnasium Farmsen II" and renamed in 1974 to "Gymnasium Osterbek". At that time, the grammar school was quite a small school with 250 students. At the beginning of the 5th grade, every student had the opportunity to join a bilingual class, in which several exchanges with French students were planned. The first exchange took place in 1974 with students from Rennes / France. The Osterbek grammar school also has many working groups in which the students can pursue their own hobbies after school. After the laying of the foundation stone in 1972 at the tournament ascent, the school started operations in 1973 with 250 students. In this year the school sports club "Grün-Weiß-Kiebitz" was founded on the initiative of Mr. Velmede. In 1974 the grammar school got its current name. In August 1975 the upper level cooperation with the Farmsen grammar school began . On October 21, 1976 the multi-purpose hall and the administration wing are inaugurated. The planned upper school house will not be built due to the foreseeable decline in the number of students in Hamburg. In lengthy negotiations we achieve the construction of the school sports field. In 1978 it was decided unanimously not to turn the grammar school into a comprehensive school. The first 20 students do their Abitur. In January 1981 the school taught about 900 students and the next year there was the first exchange with a school in Marseille / France. In 1987 the school had 572 students and 49 teachers. In 1994 Ms. Stephan became the new headmistress and only one year later the bistro was opened and the first musical was presented at the school: “Little Shop of Horrors”. In 1998 the first solar system was installed and the whole school went on a school trip to Trappenkamp. The future headmistress, Mrs. Doblhofer, becomes the new upper school coordinator in 2000. In the same year a new computer room is set up and the musical "Orpheus 2000" is performed. Next year the current headmaster, Mr. Cain, will be the new deputy headmaster and a bilingual meeting will take place in Leipzig. In addition, a new subject is being set up for the 7th and 8th grades: Project-Oriented Learning (POL). After the closure of the secondary and secondary schools in the tournament ascent and the expiry of the leases in 2002, the high school took over the neighboring building and now has a full replacement for the upper level building that was not built. In 2003 Ms. Gerst becomes the new headmistress and the “Forum for creative school design” is founded. In the same year, the big band OJO-Club received 1st prize in the national competition “Jugend jazzt” and the cafeteria “La Casserole” was founded. In addition, the first four SMART boards will be set up in 2005 and the Osterbek grammar school receives the “Healthy School” award. From 2006 Mr. Cain and Ms. Doblhofer are headmasters in the team. In addition, new project weeks will be introduced and grades 5 and 6 can visit a profile star. The 1. 3- three-year planning for teaching and school development will be adopted in 2007 and the “double-hour principle” will be introduced. In 2007 the biology and specialist rooms will also be modernized and there will be a learning workshop. In 2008, the Osterbek grammar school took part in the school experiment “everything >> can”, there are profile preparation courses in year 10 and there is a data network in all rooms. In addition, there are now SMART boards in House B and class lessons in the years 5-10. In 2009, the upper profile level starts with three profiles: System Earth, Technology / Media / Economy, Communication in Europe, there is a formal cooperation agreement with the Eenstock primary schools, School at the Gartenstadt and Traberweg, and English modules are offered in the subjects biology, history, PGW (Politics Society Economy), sport and music. There is also a substitution plan on the Internet and the girls' team wins the "Uwe Seeler Cup". The first Gy8 year-old graduated from high school together with the last Gy9 year-old in 2010, the referendum ends the introduction of primary school, the chemistry rooms are modernized and the high school receives the quality seal "School with exemplary professional orientation".

Working groups and POL courses (project-oriented learning)

The school offers numerous opportunities for students to devote themselves to their hobby after school. For example, the school offers sports such as football, rugby and table tennis, but there are also quieter societies such as the chess group. There are also several offers for students during school time. For example, the pupils have the opportunity to look at different professions to test whether they like them (POL course: Professions in the district ). In the POL course "Thank you for the music", students can also live out their passion for music and various instruments that they have always wanted to try out. Profiles

From grade 5 onwards, students have the opportunity to go to the French branch, where a two-week excursion to Marseille takes place in the 7th grade. In addition, students who do not choose the French branch can choose Latin or French from year 6 onwards.
