International contacts
The Melrose High School has been linked to the Oberalster Grammar School through the German-American Partnership Program since 1976. Every two years around twenty German students travel to Melrose near Boston for around four weeks and are then visited by their exchange partners in Germany.
French partner schools are the Collège de la Vallée in Avon (Seine-et-Marne) and the "Collège Font d'Aurumy" in Fuveau , France. Every year the Oberalster high school offers an exchange week for the 7th and 8th grade in Avon.
We have been in contact with a partner school in the heart of Madrid since 2015. The exchange included about twenty 10th grade students. For the GOA va a Nicaragua project , a school group worked in Nicaragua in 2004 and 2006 . In Léon , she helped to install a drinking water treatment system in 2004 and to build a school building in 2006.
An exchange with a school in Georgia is planned for 2020.
Memorial stone
In 1982, a memorial stone was erected on the former camp site of the Hamburg-Sasel subcamp on the initiative of class 10c pupils at the Oberalster grammar school and their teacher Gerd Liszkowski . The class had researched the history of the camp in 1981 and 1982 and published a brochure about it and designed the design of the memorial stone.
