Fuveau is a French municipality with 10,157 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Bouches-du-Rhône in the region of Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur .

geography

The municipality is located fifteen kilometers southeast of Aix-en-Provence . Neighboring towns are Gardanne , Gréasque and Mimet . The districts of La Barque (about 1000 inhabitants) and Brogilum (230 inhabitants) belong to the municipality .

history

Fuveau was first mentioned in a document in the eleventh century. The place was initially dominated by agriculture, in the second half of the nineteenth century coal mining began.
