history
The first residents had to reach the area via narrow paths along the rocks. The Romans built the first roads. Several finds prove the presence of the Romans. In the Middle Ages, the place was completely unprotected, it had neither protective walls nor a castle. In the eleventh century, a monastery was built in Gréasque, which was supported with numerous donations of money, land and goods. In 1079 it became part of the diocese of Aix-en-Provence. In the eleventh century, rule of the monastery passed to secular lords. Towards the end of the 17th century, the church was taken over by the pastor of the neighboring village of Fuveau. In 1770 the church, which was only part of the parish of Fuveau, was renovated. In 1789 the place had just 150 inhabitants. In the same year the municipality sent its consul to the general assembly in Aix-en-Provence. In 1792 the place already had 255 inhabitants.
