Lamanon is a French commune with 2,004 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Bouches-du-Rhône in the region of Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur .
geography
The municipality is located in the north of the Bouches-du-Rhône department, seven kilometers north of Salon-de-Provence . It lies on the edge of the Alpilles and is part of the Alpilles Regional Nature Park .
history
To the north of the current location is an archaeological site of prehistoric and medieval settlements. The Calès caves located here were inhabited until the 16th century. This site is one of many ancient settlements in the Alpilles. These places were linked by paths, including the Castrum of Aureille . Trade was already carried out here during the Iron Age . In the Castrum, which resembled a village, the inhabitants of the Alpilles exchanged goods. In the following time, many people moved to Arles , which was a Greek colony . But in the second and first centuries before Christ, the Alpilles flourished again. During Roman times, the so-called oppida , the settlements in the Alpilles, were largely dissolved.

Economy and Infrastructure
The D17, which connects it with its neighboring towns of Eyguières and Mallemort , runs through the village . The N7 running in north-south direction connects the place with Salon-de-Provence in the south and with Sénas in the north, where it forms a parallel route to the motorway to Avignon . The Autoroute du Soleil leads directly past the village, the next driveways are in Sénas and Salon-de-Provence.
