Charleval is a French commune with 2,700 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Bouches-du-Rhône in the region of Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur .

geography

The municipality is located 25 kilometers northwest of Aix-en-Provence . Neighboring municipalities are La Roque-d'Anthéron , Salon-de-Provence , Lambesc and Mallemort .

history

Charleval was built around his castle. In the 15th century the area came into the possession of King René . In the 16th century, only six families lived in what is now the municipality. In 1677 it came into the possession of the Lords of Cadenet . In the 18th century they lured 66 families from neighboring towns to Charleval.

railway station

The community used to have a train station. Construction began in 1886, and the station was inaugurated in 1889. Today there is a music school in the train station.
