Ally Condie

Allyson Braithwaite Condie is an American novelist. She is the author of the New York Times bestseller The Selection (original title: Matched ).

Life

Condie attended Brigham Young University and earned a degree as an English teacher. She taught English at high schools in Utah and New York State . She lives in Salt Lake City , Utah with her husband and four sons . In 2017, Condie founded the WriteOut Foundation , which organizes outdoor writing experience camps for rural youth.

The selection was published under the English title Matched by Dutton (Penguin) in November 2010. It is the first novel in a trilogy . The second book, Crossed , was published on November 1, 2011. The second volume, Die Flucht , was published in German on January 20, 2012. The third volume, The Arrival , was published on January 8, 2013 in German.

The selection is a dystopian novel that tells the love story of a young couple in a society whose fate is completely predetermined and controlled by higher authorities.

The Walt Disney Company has acquired the film rights and translation rights have been granted to 30 countries. In February 2011, the novel reached number 9 on the New York Times Best Sellers List Children's Chapter Books .
