Dieter Staacken

Dieter Staacken (* 1935 in Oldenswort ) is a German painter and writer.

Life

Staacken grew up in Garding . His father Johannes Staacken was a country doctor . Dieter Staacken later described his parents in Jan Ruff & Frau Doktor . He passed his Abitur at the Hermann Tast School in Husum . He studied art and palaeography in Hanover, Hamburg and Munich , had numerous teaching posts and was an art teacher at the Oberalster grammar school in Hamburg, whose logo he designed. Finally he trained art teachers at the study seminar in Hamburg. Staacken returned to Garding in 2002 and set up a studio. He wrote numerous books that describe his homeland Eiderstedt , including poems in Low German . He also works as a painter. Many of his pictures are characterized by the contrast between positive and negative forms.

Staacken also volunteered in Garding. For 25 years he headed the Friends' Association for Art and Culture in Garding and campaigned for the preservation of the “Old Town Hall” and the memory of Theodor Mommsen .
