Duvenstedt volunteer fire department

In addition to the two sports clubs and the Hamburg-Duvenstedt volunteer fire brigade, which has existed since 1891, the Duvenstedt Association is the central institution for cultural get-togethers . Located in the Max-Kramp-Haus named after the deceased founder, the Duvenstedt Association offers space and forum for many interest groups. In addition to numerous activities, especially for children and young people, you can take part in various courses, workshops and the like, such as Spanish courses, Feldenkrais or crawling groups. The Low German amateur theater, which has existed for several years, and the wind orchestra are also part of the Duvenstedt Association.

In 2011, Duvenstedt celebrated its 750th anniversary with a week of festivities, which was opened by the First Mayor of Hamburg, Olaf Scholz, in a festive ceremony in front of an invited audience. A chronicle of the village was also published.

music

The Duvenstedt Orchestra has been operating under the umbrella of the Duvenstedt Association since 1981, and emerged from the youth players' march founded in 1967 . Since 1992 (25th anniversary), a spring concert has been held regularly around Easter, at which the orchestra presents its new pieces. The orchestra also plays at private and public events such as district festivals, Hamburg harbor birthday parties, wedding and birthday parties, etc. The orchestra also regularly accompanies the events organized annually by the district initiative Duvenstedt Aktiv eV , such as B. the Maypole erection on May 1st or the opening of the Duvenstedt sea of lights on the evening before the 1st Advent.

In 2007 the Duvenstedt Orchestra celebrated its 40th anniversary with a large anniversary concert.

Natural monuments

The Duvenstedter Brook was placed under nature protection in 1939. The area has been used for centuries by farmers in the villages of Duvenstedt and Lemsahl-Mellingstedt as pasture and peat digging. The actual Brook belonged to the Tangstedt Chancellery since the 17th century . Its rights were replaced in the second half of the 19th century. At that time, the Brook was the preferred hunting area of the Wellingsbüttel landowner family Jauch , who leased it to their land and released pheasants there. Hamburg bought large parts of the Brooks in 1925. The rest also fell to the Hanseatic city in 1937 with the Greater Hamburg Act . Today the Brook is Hamburg's largest nature reserve with the strongest deer in Germany - after a red deer gate opened after the Second World War.

Sports

In the district are the TSV Duwo 08 , the tennis club Eichenhof and Duvenstedter SV active. The clubhouse of the dance sport club TSC Casino Oberalster is also on Duvenstedter Markt .
