Bergstedt is a district of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg in the Wandsbek district . He is part of the forest villages .

location

Bergstedt borders on the following districts: in the west on Lemsahl-Mellingstedt , in the north on Wohldorf-Ohlstedt , in the east on Volksdorf and in the south on Sasel .

history

In 1248 Bergstedt, which was formerly a Saxon round village, was first mentioned under the name Bericstede . This name does not go back to a scenic mountain, but to the Saxon local founder named Beric , whereby the final syllable -stedt also refers to a Saxon foundation and has the meaning of a safe settlement or a safe place of residence . In 1345 the von Wedel family pledged the village to the Hamburg cathedral chapter . In the 16th century Bergstedt came to the Dukes of Holstein-Gottorp before it was pledged to Hamburg again from 1750 to 1773. Since 1889 Bergstedt formed together with the rural community and the Hoisbüttel manor district an administrative district in the Prussian district of Stormarn . In the course of the Greater Hamburg Act , Bergstedt was incorporated into Hamburg in 1937. Until the abolition of the local offices in Hamburg in 2007 it belonged to the local office area Walddörfer.

Bergstedt's Church

Buildings

The Bergstedt Church is a field stone building from the early 13th century, the half-timbered tower was added in 1745. The inner galleries date from 1663, the pulpit from 1686.

The Landhaus Mahr , built in 1911/1912 by Distel & Grubitz , is located on the north-western edge of Bergstedt near the Alster and has been a listed building since 1989.

The Alte Mühle is located on the border with Sasel, probably since the 15th century .

Nature reserves

Timmermoor

In the south-east of the district lies the approximately 4 hectare Timmermoor natural monument , a bog pond with heather and wood fringes , which was created in the last Ice Age around 20,000 years ago, presumably as a result of the subsidence of soil layers over thawing dead ice.

In the southwest of the district, between the Alstern tributary Saselbek and its tributary Furtbek, lies the Hainesch / Iland nature reserve .

In the north of the district lies the Rodenbeker Quellental nature reserve .

Sports

In Bergstedt there is the Bergstedt sports club from 1948 (eV). In addition to soccer, hockey, judo, handball and volleyball, the club also offers other sports and also has a club house with a restaurant and fitness room.
