The Volksdorf underground station is a separation station in the northeastern part of the Hamburg underground network in the eponymous district of Volksdorf . The station abbreviation of the operating company Hamburger Hochbahn is "VF". In 2017, the subway station had an average of 14,100 boarding and disembarking passengers (Mon-Fri).
construction

The Volksdorf stop is located directly west of the parallel Claus-Ferck-Straße in the Hamburg district of the same name. It is the starting point of the two north-east branches of the U1, which, coming from the direction of the city center, branch off here to Ohlstedt or Großhansdorf . The underground station has three tracks on two platforms in the embankment. Track 1 and 2 are used for traffic inwards, while track 3 on the east side platform is used for operations out of town. The three tracks are spanned by a station hall. Stairs and elevators lead into them from a vestibule at the southern end of the facility. To the north of the platforms is the overpass structure , here the track from Großhansdorf leads over the tracks from or from Ohlstedt. Both north and south of the subway station are sweeping or siding .
There is a P + R parking garage in the immediate vicinity of the train station .
history
Volksdorf station is located on the Walddörferbahn , which the city of Hamburg had built in this area from 1912 onwards, parallel to the Alt-Rahlstedt-Volksdorf-Wohldorf electric small train , which was built before the First World War . The construction was completed in 1918, but initially (due to the war) the electrical equipment for power supply via the side busbar was missing . As a makeshift operation, a small steam locomotive began on September 12, 1918 . However, this was spoils of war and had to be returned to Belgium a short time later . Electrical operation between Volksdorf and Barmbek (until September 27, 1946 Barmbeck) could not be started until September 6, 1920 . In 1921 the route to Großhansdorf followed via Ahrensburg . In 1925 the branch finally followed to Ohlstedt, until then the Alt-Rahlstedt – Volksdorf – Wohldorf small railway was still running here, which was then withdrawn to Ohlstedt.
In 1957 the entrance hall was extensively renovated, in the process it lost the once typical tile cladding. During a further renovation between 1997 and 1999, many changes to the first renovation were reversed, and a support clad with the original tiles could be exposed again.
More lines
The Volksdorf underground station is linked to the Hamburg bus network. At the station there are transition options to the tangential Metrobus line 24, a city bus line (174) via Bergstedt to Poppenbüttel, a ring line (375) through the district and the night bus 607 to Poppenbüttel.
