The subway station Ahrensburg West is a stop of the Hamburg subway - U1 in the southwest of Schleswig-Holstein City Ahrensburg . The abbreviation of the operating company Hamburger Hochbahn is AW.
investment
The station has an approximately 120 meter long central platform in the cut. The only access in the east leads to the station forecourt on Waldemar-Bonsels-Weg, which crosses the cut by means of a bridge . The buses of the Ahrensburger Stadtverkehr stop either in a bus bend in front of the entrance or on the bridge.
The stop has had two platform tracks since 1957, so that train encounters are possible here on the otherwise single-track Großhansdorf section of the U1. Since the Schmalenbeck stop also has a siding, a maximum of ten minutes is possible on the section from Volksdorf to Großhansdorf. The trains meet as scheduled in Schmalenbeck during the 20-minute intervals, and in Ahrensburg West during the ten-minute intervals during rush hour.
The station has a park + ride facility with 80 parking spaces. Ahrensburg West has been barrier-free since March 13, 2017. During the construction of the S4 from Hamburg to Bad Oldesloe , a new stopping point is also to be created on the Lübeck – Hamburg railway line in order to create a transfer option to the nearby underground station.
history
The station, based on a design by Eugen Göbel , was opened on November 5, 1921 under the name "Ahrensburg" with initially only one track; the siding was not moved until 1957.
When the “Hopfenbach” stop was renamed “ Ahrensburg East ” in 1952 , the station was given its current name “Ahrensburg West” to avoid confusion.
