The Kiwittsmoor underground station is a stop on the Hamburg underground line U1 in the Langenhorn district . The abbreviation of the station at the operator company Hamburger Hochbahn is "KM".

investment

The stop has an approximately 120 meter long central platform on an embankment west of the eponymous street Kiwittsmoor in the north of Langenhorn. The only access is at the east end of the platform. Here a staircase and an inclined elevator lead down to a small access building, which is located northeast of the subway line at street level. Above the stairs there is a glass and ceramic mosaic from 1960 that Annette Caspar created.

The distances to the neighboring train stations are around 1 kilometer (to Ochsenzoll) or around 1.7 kilometers (to Langenhorn Nord).

history

The Kiwittsmoor station was added to the elevated railway line to Ochsenzoll, which had been in existence since the 1910s. During the construction of the railway there was no need for a stop as the area was largely unpopulated. It was not until the post-war years that densified housing developments began, which made a subway station on Kiwittsmoor seem sensible. Finally, the station was built from 1959 and opened on May 10, 1960. There were major renovations in 2013 when the facility was redesigned to be barrier-free. Since then it has had an inclined elevator from the street level to the platform level, the platform has been partially raised and a guidance system has been installed for the visually impaired. A park + ride facility with 274 parking spaces has been available again since the end of 2019.
