The Hudtwalckerstraße subway station is a stop on the Hamburg subway line U1 in the Winterhude district . The abbreviation of the station at the operator company Hamburger Hochbahn is "HU".

The station building, clad with sandstone elements and red brick , is located on the northeast side of the intersection of the eponymous Hudtwalckerstraße with the Bebelallee / Sierichstraße street. This consists of a vestibule and the staircase with the fixed staircase as the only access to the platform. It extends 120 meters north between the tracks on the embankment . The southern third of it represents the older part, which has a platform roof with central supports. This is also where the former brick terminal building is located for the station attendant who was employed until the 1980s. In the absence of an elevator, the Hudtwalckerstraße underground station is not barrier-free.
history
The station on Hudtwalckerstraße was part of the Ohlsdorf branch line of the Hochbahn and went into operation when the line opened in 1914. In 1923/1924 the station was closed for a few months due to insufficient use, the buildings in the area at that time were significantly thinner than today.
With the exception of two extensions of the platform to the north and the abandonment of ticket issuance in the access hall, aside from renovation work such as replacing the small pavement surface on the older part, no fundamental alterations have been made to the station.
The name above the station's access doors was spelled incorrectly, without ck, and was never corrected because of the disproportionate effort.
