The alter teichweg is a stop of the Hamburg subway - U1 in the district Dulsberg . The abbreviation of the station at the operating company Hamburger Hochbahn is "AT". The stop is used by around 7,800 passengers a day (Mon – Fri, 2017).
Structure and location
The station is located under Nordschleswiger Straße in the area of the intersection with the eponymous Alte Teichweg. The two side platforms, which are around 120 meters long, are located in a two-fold lower position in a shared high tunnel with supporting columns between the tracks. At the north end, fixed stairs and escalators lead to a distribution floor in a simple lower position. This can be reached from the surface via four more stairs.
Between the stairs to the platforms there is a pulpit above the tracks for a stop attendant to handle the trains. Since this task is now taken over by the driver himself on the Hamburg subway, the pulpit has been out of order since around 2002 and is no longer used.
The station was built according to plans by the architect Fritz Trautwein .
history
The Alter Teichweg stop was built as part of the last section of the so-called Wandsbeker U-Bahn. Construction began here in 1961. In August 1963, the underground station went into operation. Since then, no major renovations have been carried out at this station, so that it is still largely in its original state. Only the ticket sales point and the locking system on the distribution level have been removed. The first single- price ticket machines for the different price levels there were replaced by two extra-price machines.
At the southern end of the platforms - after the fire in the Berlin underground station Deutsche Oper , in which the escape route to the only exit of the station was cut off - an emergency exit was created. It is located on the platform in the direction of Wandsbek-Gartenstadt. The emergency exit can be reached from the other platform via an emergency rail crossing, for which the power rail is interrupted a few meters immediately behind the platform.
Accessibility
The subway station has been barrier-free since October 21, 2019. For barrier-free access, the northwest of the four stairs from the intermediate level to the surface was permanently closed. At the point of access to the stairs there is an elevator from the street level to the mezzanine level. Elevators lead from the mezzanine level to the two platforms. They were built on the site of the previous escalators, which have been eliminated. The platforms were partially raised to the level of the train doors to enable stepless entry. The entire system was given a tactile guidance system.
Connection
There is a transition to the Metrobus lines 23 ( Niendorf Markt - Barmbek - Dulsberg - Wandsbek Markt - Billstedt ) and 28 (Lufthansa base - Alsterdorf - Rübenkamp S-Bahn station - City Nord - Dulsberg - Wandsbek Markt ). The facility has a total of 58 bicycle parking spaces for bike and ride , 4 of which are in lockable, rented boxes and 54 in the open air on hangers.
There is a StadtRAD Hamburg station about 150 m from the subway entrance .
