The Fuhlsbüttel Nord subway station is a stop on the Hamburg subway in the Fuhlsbüttel district . The abbreviation of the station at the operating company Hamburger Hochbahn is "FL".

station

Fuhlsbüttel Nord is a station on the U1 line directly on the border between the eponymous district of Fuhlsbüttel and Hamburg-Langenhorn . The stop has a central platform in the embankment. The only exit leads from the north end of the platform into a small access building, from which Flughafenstrasse can be reached via stairs. North of the stop is a sweeping track that is used for individual repeater trains and in the event of operational disruptions.

Since June 29, 2020, the underground station has been "barrier-free" thanks to the installation of an elevator system and a tactile floor guidance system for people with impaired vision while protecting the historical stairwell area . Extensive renovation work is expected to be carried out until autumn 2020.

The two neighboring stations Langenhorn Markt and Fuhlsbüttel are each about 1.1 kilometers away. Line 172 stops at the bus stop. 100 meters from the station is the Flughafenstrasse bus stop, which is served by lines 292, 392 and the 606 night bus.

history

The Fuhlsbüttel Nord station was put into operation in the summer of 1921 under the name "Langenhorn Süd" on the elevated railway line to Ochsenzoll (today part of the U1). In 1934, the station was renamed “Airport”, although the terminals are about a kilometer away. In 1954 the name changed to "Flughafenstrasse". Finally, in 1984 the current name “Fuhlsbüttel Nord” was introduced.
