Radio Schleswig-Holstein ( RSH , spelling R.SH ) is a private radio station from Schleswig-Holstein . R.SH is the leading VHF transmitter in the state of Schleswig-Holstein. The operator is REGIOCAST GmbH.

history

Radio Schleswig-Holstein began its program on July 1, 1986, making it the first nationwide private radio station in Germany with a full 24-hour program. RPR1 had already started operations on April 30, 1986, but shared its frequency with three other programs (LR Linksrheinischer Rundfunk, PRO Radio 4 and Radio 85). R.SH very quickly became a pure AC format radio with many typical features of this format.

When it started broadcasting, RSH wanted to use a trick to compete with its public service competitor NDR 2 in the information sector as well: Program director Hermann Stümpert considered the news in the NDR 2 program at the full hour to be an easily vulnerable point. RSH has always broadcast its news at five minutes before the hour, just before all its competitors.

Today RSH broadcasts together with the sister stations delta radio and Radio Bob from the "Radiozentrum Kiel" at Wittland 3 in Kiel. The station's target group is 14 to 49 year olds.

Originally fully owned by newspaper publishers in Schleswig-Holstein, today RSH is 100 percent owned by Regiocast , a media holding company.

The current slogan is "Schleswig-Holstein's best mix of music".

According to Media Analysis 2018 Audio II, RSH in Schleswig-Holstein achieved a weekly market share of 24.3% and a daily reach of 26.7% (Monday to Friday) in the German-speaking population aged 14 and over.

The program is produced on the North Sea island in specially equipped rooms and can only be heard on the Sylt frequency of R.SH 102.8 MHz . news

R.SH does not have a separate newsroom. The news is produced by REGIOCAST Radioservices (formerly ANN - Audio News Network GmbH). ANN emerged from the originally independent newsrooms of the Schleswig-Holstein private broadcasters and, like this one, is based in the RADIOZENTRUM Kiel. R.SH no longer owns regional studios since 2003; they were closed for cost reasons.

The news anchors who can be heard on R.SH all work for the Newscloud news division of Regiocast Radioservices. You are therefore not directly employed by R.SH. Newscloud supplies radio stations across Germany such as Rock Antenne Hamburg , Klassik Radio , Antenne MV , Radio Bob , sunshine live , Radio Energy , Radio Hamburg

In addition to the main news programs, regional news is also broadcast several times a day. The daily newspaper of the Danish minority Flensborg Avis also produces a short regional news program in Danish for the north of the country .

automation

Parts of the program are automated. At night and on weekends, sometimes all day, the weather and traffic reports are imported into the system from pre-produced modules. This procedure ( voice tracking ) is also carried out for some programs.

Events

For several years now, R.SH has organized the "R.SH Children's Day" every year, which takes place in various locations throughout Schleswig-Holstein. Former events of the station are the R.SH birthday, like the Children's Day, a one-day, but larger open-air event, and the R.SH gold award, which took place in the Kiel Ostseehalle .

reception

The R.SH program can be received via VHF and cable in Schleswig-Holstein , Hamburg , northern Lower Saxony and western Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . Since September 1, 2016, DAB + digital radio has also been broadcast via a transmitter in Hamburg . On March 26, 2020, the nationwide DAB + connection in the NDR Mux in Schleswig-Holstein took place as part of a three-year model test. In Denmark , R.SH can be received far into the country, especially in the Syddanmark region , via the Flensburg transmitter on 101.4 MHz with 20 kW transmission power. The northernmost point of the reception area is about Ejer Bavnehøj 40 km from Aarhus . FM frequencies:
