Hard to believe! is a guessing program that has been broadcast on NDR television since July 2014 . In the show, hosted by Kai Pflaume , a four-person guessing team has to guess the strange secrets of a guest.

Gameplay

Moderator Kai Pflaume

At the beginning of each guessing round, one or more guests are introduced in different ways. Mostly, but not always, this is the real name (s) and the origin or place of residence of the candidate. They had an unusual job, a strange hobby or a special experience. If there are several guests, there is often something in common in their careers or experiences. The secret is briefly faded in for the TV viewers and the studio audience. The moderator announces the fade-in with a horn signal . Then he gives the advice team a first, general and, if possible, ambiguous reference to the secret. Each of the counselors has 45 seconds, one after the other, to approach the secret with decision-making questions . The guest only replies with "yes" or "no". If the secret is guessed, the moderator confirms the solution. Otherwise, the guest receives 200 euros each after the 45 seconds  . After all the members of the advice team have had their turn, the team can briefly discuss and each member can give a tip. If the secret is then not guessed, the guest gets another 200 euros and the puzzle is solved. So he can receive a maximum of 1000 euros. The curious story is then presented with a short video and / or a demonstration in the studio. Anyone who thinks their story is curious enough can apply for the show. If necessary, the editorial team will contact you and organize everything else.

Advice team

The advice team consists of Bernhard Hoëcker , Hubertus Meyer-Burckhardt , Stephanie Stumph and Jörg Pilawa . In the 2017 summer season, Jörg Pilawa was no longer an integral part of the advice team. Instead, a different prominent guest alternately took his place in each program ( Bernhard Bettermann , Elton , Axel Prahl , Richy Müller and Jürgen Vogel ). Thereafter, Pilawa returned to the advice team.

Changes 2020

Due to the prescribed distance rules due to the COVID-19 pandemic , the broadcast has been without an audience since season 7. The advice team no longer sits at one table, but each at their own, at a suitable distance.

Idea and Production

The idea for hard to believe! came from Jörg Pilawa, who is also part of the advice team. The concept has been adopted almost completely from other programs, such as Pssst… . Hard to believe, the typical duck flute was also copied in a slightly modified form. Pilawa's company Mr. P. produces the show together with Endemol and the NDR. The recordings take place in Hamburg .

reception

After the first edition, Manuel Nunez Sanchez certified the show atquotemeter.de as "entertaining entertainment" and praised the "relaxed and humorous manner" of the "sympathetic and committed guessing foxes". At the same time, he criticized the producers' lack of ideas, as the concept of the show was very reminiscent of earlier programs such as Pssst ... and What am I? remember.

Special occurrences

There were three guests on the show who had a personal relationship with a member of the council team. In the third episode (July 28, 2014) Bernhard Hoëcker's former kindergarten teacher appeared. In the 15th edition, Katharina von Keller appeared, who appeared in 1995 together with Stephanie Stumph in the second episode of the crime series Stubbe - Von Fall zu Fall ( Stubbe sees red ). In the XXL edition of October 31, 2018, a man appeared who had contested a donkey race against Bernhard Hoëcker in which he had broken his collarbone .

In the XXL edition of August 12, 2017, a guest brought along two independent stories for the first time, both of which had to be solved by the advice team. Both stories could be guessed, so that the candidate won a total of 1,200 euros (800 euros + 400 euros).

In the broadcast of June 15, 2019, Germany's only "real" Max Mustermann was a guest for the second time as a 16-year-old young man after 2016.
