The trumpet , also known as tute, is a primitive wind instrument that is used as an effect , noise and signal instrument as well as a means of communication , in today's world it is also used therapeutically .

etymology

The word is derived from Germanic turuta ("fanfare", "trumpet"), etymologically also related to the trute, a similar instrument, the Catalan tarota . The term trute is also often used as a pejorative for trumpets and other wind instruments.

Cultural history
