A signaling instrument produces sound characters , so acoustic signals that a message transmitted.

Signal instruments are mostly constructed on the basis of loud musical instruments .

Generally accessible signaling instruments

These must be easy to use and reliable in their function. A very well-known example is the whistle , where a simple forceful blow is enough to produce a very loud, shrill and piercing sound. Originally developed as a pure signaling instrument, it is now also used as a noise , rhythm and effect instrument and as a toy instrument by children .

Sometimes the use of electrical converters simplifies the generation of sound in such a way that only a switch has to be operated. Remote control of the siren was made possible by using an electric motor .

Personal signaling instruments

These signaling instruments sometimes require prior training. The use of the post horn , hunting horn or parforce horn is only possible with appropriate practice.
