A blowouts (also: Blasrolle , Rolltröte or rolling pipe ) or blowouts-Tröte ; Occasionally the funfair whistle is an effect or noise instrument , which is called a singing drum . Air trunks are used as children's toys , joke articles and in speech therapy .

The trumpet consists of a tube-like, conical mouthpiece, which is usually made of plastic and resembles a trumpet . There is a membrane in the mouthpiece . On the mouthpiece at the end is a sealed tube with an internal, very thin steel strip - coil spring mounted. The hose is usually made of paper that is monochrome, colored or printed with a colored pattern.

Due to the air pressure that is created when blowing into the mouthpiece, the hose fills with air and unrolls against the spring force straight away from the mouthpiece. At the same time, the air flowing past the membrane creates a sound, the volume of which varies due to the force with which the mouthpiece is blown. The spiral spring causes the hose to roll up again automatically as soon as it is no longer blown into it and the air pressure drops again.

Air trunks are both popular and inexpensive children's toys, for example as small gifts for guests at children's birthdays and events for children, as well as joke items, such as for parties, at carnival and New Year's celebrations . In the past, they were also referred to as "Radauartikel" in the field of carnival articles.

In addition, air trunks are used for oral motor exercises in the field of speech therapy and promotion.
