Hubertus Meyer-Burckhardt (born July 24, 1956 in Kassel ) is a German television presenter and producer as well as journalist , manager in the media industry and writer .

life and career

He passed the Abitur at the Kassel Friedrichsgymnasium . Meyer-Burckhardt first studied history and philosophy in Berlin and Hamburg and then moved to the University of Television and Film (HFF) in Munich . From 1977 to 1984 he realized commercials, after which he worked as a television producer for the new German film company (ndF) in Munich. In 1988 he moved to the BBDO advertising agency in Düsseldorf as Creative Director and Member of the Board , where he stayed until 1991.

In 1992 he founded Akzente Film & Fernsehproduktion GmbH as a managing partner. In 1994 he developed and hosted Sowieso - The Sunday Show for ARD , for which he was awarded the Adolf Grimme Prize . Meyer-Burckhardt became known as the presenter of the NDR Talk Show (with Alida Gundlach ) from 1994 to 2001. From 1999 to 2001 he was also chairman of the management of Multimedia Film- und Fernsehproduktion GmbH, a joint venture between Axel Springer AG and Studio Hamburg GmbH.

From December 2001 to July 2004 he was a member of the Management Board of Axel Springer AG in the Electronic Media and Book division . On July 1, 2004, he moved from the Supervisory Board of ProSiebenSat.1 Media AG to its Management Board. In 2006 Meyer-Burckhardt moved back to Hamburg, where he succeeded Matthias Esche as managing director of the Polyphon Group, which belongs to the NDR's Studio Hamburg . Together with Fred Kogel , Meyer-Burckhardt took over the management of Polyscreen , an equal joint venture between Polyphon and Constantin Film AG.

On May 31, 2013 Meyer-Burckhardt left the management of Polyphon at his own request. He continued to work as a producer for Polyphon until December 31, 2019. Meyer-Burckhardt was a member of the jury for the German Television Prize .

From 2007 to 2012 he was a professor at the Hamburg University of Fine Arts and in this capacity was one of two responsible for production at the Hamburg Media School until 2012 . Since January 2008 Meyer-Burckhardt has again hosted the NDR Talk Show , together with Barbara Schöneberger .

Since 2014 he has had his own radio show with Meyer-Burckhardt's Frauengeschichten (Women's Stories), in which remarkable women are presented on the first Sunday of each month on the radio station NDR Info . Based on the radio show, his first non-fiction book was published in 2017 with the title Women's Stories - What I've Learned From Strong Women .

In an episode of the Pfarrer Braun series , which played in his hometown Kassel, he took on a guest role as an electrician in 2010. Since 2010 he has been the sponsor of the Bethel children's hospice for terminally ill children. He also supports various death hospices. In the NDR quiz show Hard to believe! he has been part of the advice team since 2014. From January 1, 2016 to May 14, 2020, Hubertus Meyer-Burckhardt was a member of the supervisory board of the Ernst-Deutsch-Theater in Hamburg.

Private life

Meyer-Burckhardt has two children and is married to the journalist Dorothee Röhrig. In the year 2017 was with him cancer diagnosed.
