Landeswelle Thüringen (own spelling: LandesWelle Thüringen ) is a private broadcasting station in Thuringia and is operated by LandesWelle Thüringen GmbH & Co. KG . LandesWelle Thüringen broadcasts a music and information program with a focus on rock and pop music from the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s as well as current music. The radio station's claim is “Best Rock & Pop”.

Seat of Landeswelle Thuringia is Erfurt . There are also regional studios and journalistic staff in Nordhausen , Jena , Gera and Fambach .

history

The station began broadcasting the program on March 21, 1995 at 5:30 am. The first track was "Old as the World". A demo loop with jingles and non-stop music has been running since December 31, 1994. The first track on the frequencies of the future national wave was the " Rennsteiglied " by Herbert Roth . While the station was initially designed as a “family station”, LandesWelle Thüringen developed into a station for an older target group. A trademark in the news was initially the "Thuringia Minute" one minute before the hour. After the national news, the regular world news followed. With the "LandesWelle Blitzdienst" (today the "LandesWelle Thüringen Verkehrsservice"), the station established a traffic service based on reports from listeners as the first nationwide radio station in Germany. The station was also the first in Thuringia to report "speed camera locations" and thus sparked a controversial public debate.

The broadcaster quickly established numerous popular programs such as “SamsTalk” and the like. a. with Petra Schenk , Frank Göbel , "Jugendliebe - Die Hits aus dem Osten" with Holger-Ralf Ehrhardt (today including KiKA ), "Die TOP 100" (the first big listener hit parade on the 100th day of broadcast with Gesine Voigt and Holger-Ralf Ehrhardt) , the “Greetings and Requests” between 6pm and 8pm and a little later the “Hitwelle - The TOP 15 listener hit parade” with Michael Kraus and Holger-Ralf Ehrhardt or the “Sportclub” with the legendary Wolfgang Hempel . Other moderators in the early years were Tobias Bräuer, Wolfgang Buschner, Marcel Fischer, Frank Göbel, Karsten Heuke (today MDR ), Enrico Hess and Torsten Jäger. The station claims read “Nationwide and yet very close” and later “Das Gute-Mune-Radio”.

"Youthful Love - The Hits from the East" was a program with GDR music. The show ran on Sundays. More than 100 letters per broadcast participated in the respective riddle about GDR cultural life. Numerous GDR musicians were studio guests, so u. a. Veronika Fischer , Peter Tschernig , Muck ( Hartmut Schulze-Gerlach ), Jörg Hindemith , Dagmar Frederic , Frank Schöbel , Tamara Danz and Gaby Rückert . The program was moderated by Holger-Ralf Ehrhardt and later Gunthart Hellwig .

“Hitwelle - The TOP 15 listener hit parade” ran from September 1995 on in the Landeswelle's program and presented five performances and 15 placed titles. Some later big hits had their premiere here, for example Andrea Bocelli and Judy Weiss with “Vivo per lei - I live for them” or Michael Jackson's “Stranger in Moscow”. Regional groups also had their podium here, so the North Thuringian group Yoga landed a number one hit with “Time Is So Cruel”. The Hessian band Icks also succeeded in this. This program was moderated by Holger-Ralf Ehrhardt and Michael Kraus, who was also the Morgenmann of Landeswelle for a long time. Enrico Hess later took over until the series was discontinued.

Development since 2002

In 2002 there was a major relaunch , Marcel Wentzke (now Hitradio RTL Sachsen ) took over the morning program together with Patricia Stepputtis , which reached up to 160,000 listeners. The music selection was tailored to a younger target group. According to a media analysis , Landeswelle Thüringen achieved its highest audience ratings between 2003 and 2005 . In October 2005, Thuringia's best-known presenter Sina Peschke switched to Landeswelle. Since 2003, Landeswelle Thüringen has been involved in the Jugendradio Thüringen GmbH & Co. KG together with Antenne Thüringen and thus enabled the large-scale distribution of the youth station Radio Top40, which has existed since 2000 .

"Mir.) Marketing im radio thüringen GmbH & Co. KG.", A subsidiary of LandesWelle GmbH & Co. KG, has been active as the regional marketer of Landeswelle Thuringia since 2005. The company is responsible for the marketing of the radio advertising times, events and internet presence of the station.

With a program reform in January 2008, the station is again aimed primarily at somewhat older listeners and families. Another relaunch took place on July 8, 2008, with which the station defined itself as “Thuringia's rock and pop radio”. From September 19, 2010, new jingles could be heard at Landeswelle Thüringen. From July 2008 to September 2012, Bastian Bender presented the morning program "Bastian Bender and the LandesWelle Morgenteam". The comedy formats Baumann and Clausen as well as “Unrequested demanded” were defining elements of the show .

From September 2012, Sina Peschke presented the morning program “Der LandesWelle FrühstücksClub” with Oliver Eichhorn and later with Marco Fischer. This was on the air until June 30, 2015, but was canceled because Sina Peschke quit. This was followed by a major restructuring of the program and its transmission times. In June 2018 the long-time presenter Timo Hartmann left the station and switched to Antenne Thüringen as editor and presenter. His successor is Thomas Born, who previously worked as a moderator at Antenne Thuringia. Also at the turn of the year 2018/2019 Christian Buri switched to Antenne Thüringen.

On July 1, 2020, Dirk Sipp switched to the broadcaster, and since then he has worked for the competing broadcaster Antenne Thüringen in Weimar for decades.
