Peter Tschernig
Peter Tschernig (born April 12, 1945 in Chemnitz ; † September 15, 2017 there ) was a German musician .
Career
Tschernig received an accordion from his grandparents in 1953 and took music lessons until 1958. In 1958 he became a tenor horn player in the Karl Marx Stadt wind orchestra .
After his secondary school leaving certificate in 1962, he completed an apprenticeship as an electrical mechanic , which he completed in 1965 with the journeyman's examination. With Beatlemania he switched to the guitar , founded his first band and played as a guitarist and singer in various amateur bands. In 1974 he trained as a professional DJ ; he then worked as a freelance DJ, program designer and director of entertainment arts in the GDR.
Tschernig joined the group Express in 1977 as a singer , but left them in 1978 to start a solo career as a country musician and songwriter . In 1979 he founded the band TAXI based on his song Taxi 408 . Due to the increasing concert activity at home and abroad, he gave up his DJ work in 1983. He withdrew from the touring business in 1989 when he founded his own artist agency in East Berlin .
At MDR 1 Radio Sachsen , Peter Tschernig started the radio show Let's go Country in 1992 , which ran until 2004. On behalf of MDR television , he presented the pilot program Music City USA in Bremen in 1994, based on a joint idea with Michael Leckebusch . In 2004 he returned to the recording studio. Due to the success of the new single What do you want up there without me , Tschernig got back into the music business as a singer and songwriter.
In the film Netto (2005) Tschernig played himself in a guest appearance.
Tschernig leaves two children behind.
