MDR Sachsen (until May 1, 2017: MDR 1 Radio Sachsen ) is the regional radio of the Central German Broadcasting Corporation for Saxony .

The main regional studio is located in Dresden in the Landesfunkhaus Sachsen . There, around 190 employees for the radio and regional programs of the MDR television develop programs that are broadcast daily in Saxony and at irregular intervals across the region.

program
The focus of the program is on verbal contributions and information from and about Saxony. In addition, predominantly oldies from the 60s, 70s and 80s, supplemented with minimal hits (only in the program "Die Deutsche Hitparade"), are played. Since 2010, the hit share has been gradually reduced from 80% to 1%. As part of MDR Saxony, the Sorbian radio is also broadcast in the area of the Bautzen regional studio .
