MDR Thuringia - The radio (formerly: MDR 1 Radio Thuringia) is the regional radio program of the Central German Broadcasting Corporation for the state of Thuringia . In addition to MDR Saxony and MDR Saxony-Anhalt, it is a state program of the MDR. The program is part of the MDR-Landesfunkhaus Thuringia, the Landesfunkhaus is in Erfurt . Boris Lochthofen has been the director of the Landesfunkhaus since January 1, 2016 . The radio station's claim is "Music that stays."

The station mainly plays international oldies, supplemented with 15 percent German hits . Between 2010 and 2012, MDR Thuringia changed from a hit - to an oldie radio. The framework for the program structure is the hourly news at the full hour and headlines and regional news at the half hour. Monday to Friday
Every morning the morning show Johannes und der Morgenhahn runs (5–9 o'clock). The program includes the presenter Johannes-Michael Noack and his team. The morning program MDR Thuringia with Haase and Libra (9 am–12pm) is presented by Sina Waage and Matthias Haase, the afternoon program Der Mittag (12–3pm) by Frank Huber, Nadine Witt or Matthias Karpe. This is followed by the two programs Ramm in the afternoon (3–6 pm) moderated by Marko Ramm and Das Fazit vom Tag with Andreas Menzel (6–7 pm) moderated by Andreas Menzel . From 7 p.m., different programs run at MDR Thuringia every working day.
The program MDR THÜRINGEN runs from Monday evening to Thursday evening from 7 pm to 11 pm , moderated by various moderators. On Friday evening, the program Single Time , hosted by Christiane Weber, can be found on the slot between 7 and 11 p.m. After the various programs on weekdays, the MDR Music Night follows at night , a music program supplemented by service contributions (news, weather and traffic) without moderation. The program MDR-Musiknacht is the joint night program of the broadcasters MDR Thuringia, MDR Saxony and MDR Saxony-Anhalt . The program is broadcast on a weekly basis in the broadcasting houses in Erfurt , Magdeburg and Dresden , with the hourly news, current information on the weather and the traffic situation in the broadcasting area coming from MDR Info .
Saturday
The day starts on Saturday with the program The Saturday morning (6–9 am), followed by Der Radiogarten (9 am – 1 pm) and then (1–6 pm) Saturday afternoon moderated alternately by Brigitte Mayer and Andreas Kallwitz . The conclusion of the day then starts (6–7 pm), moderated by Lorene Gensel , Lutz Gerlach , Judith Saitz and Lars Sänger . MDR Thuringia will then broadcast the program Die Party with the moderators Brigitte Mayer, Nadine Witt or Frank Huber from 7 to 11 p.m., followed by the MDR Music Night from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Sunday
Sunday starts with the program Der Sonntagmorgen (6–9 am), and is replaced by Der Sonntag Morning with Christiane Weber (9–13 pm) moderated by Christiane Weber. From 1 to 6 p.m. the program will follow on Sunday afternoon , moderated by Brigitte Mayer or Andreas Kallwitz, followed by the conclusion of the day (6 p.m. to 7 p.m.). Sunday then ends with the programs Marlene (7–10 pm), Kulturnacht (10–23 pm) and the MDR Music Night (11–5 pm).

MDR Thuringia can be received in the whole of Thuringia, as well as in southern Saxony-Anhalt , in West Saxony , North Bavaria and in parts of East Hesse and Southeast Lower Saxony via ultra-short wave (VHF). MDR Thuringia can also be received via DAB +, cable, satellite or the Internet.
MDR Thuringia produces a public radio program broadcast nationwide on 16 frequencies in the Free State of Thuringia (VHF).

MDR Thuringia has its main studio in the Landesfunkhaus in Erfurt. In addition to the main studio, MDR Thuringia has eight regional studios throughout Thuringia, including studios in Eisenach , Gera , Heiligenstadt , Jena , Saalfeld , Sondershausen , Suhl and Weimar .
