MDR Tweens is a radio broadcaster for school children between eight and 13 years of the MDR . The name is derived from English between ("in between") and describes the phase between childhood and youth.

founding

She moved to MDR's main editorial office "Young Offers" as MDR Sputnik's editor-in-chief, where she is responsible for tweens as well as for other youth programs, also outside the MDR, such as the ARD / ZDF youth program radio .

program

According to the broadcaster, the program focuses on music, information, tips and things worth knowing from the audience's world. The flagship in the program is the weekday afternoon program MDR Tweens Live with Christopher Löwe, with the opportunity for young listeners to have their say. Other special programs are offered for rock or pop music, as well as in the evening according to the listener's areas of interest around hobbies and leisure, media skills or knowledge.

The weekday magazine broadcasts at 6 p.m., all of which are pre-produced, include:

  • “MDR Tweens Hobbyists”: Leisure activities from mountain biking to breakdancing to pantomime. A child is introduced in each program
  • “MDR Tweens Bissen- Wissen”: imparting knowledge, but no school radio, but introducing the young listeners to interesting topics in small, understandable contributions
  • "MDR POP-Tweens": Music with a spectrum from insights into the music business (how is a pop song created?) To portraits (who was Elvis?) Or the description of genres (what is hip hop?)

The magazine programs are followed by one-hour special music programs with different music genres at 7 p.m. Including “MDR Tweens Clara”, a classic program for children.
