Atze Schröder is the fictional character of a German comedian who refuses to reveal his civil identity. The character is best known through television shows and the TV series Alles Atze .

Fictional biography

The actor invented a biography for his character, according to which Atze Schröder was born on September 27, 1965 as Thomas Schröder in the Kray district of Essen . During his school days, Atze Schröder showed great talent as an artistic gymnast and became a youth champion. He then trained as a dance teacher , studied sociology for a while and turned to stand-up comedy in the mid-1990s .

The character Atze Schröder was created in 1995 during appearances on German cabaret stages such as the Schmidt Theater in Hamburg . This was followed by the first tour of Germany.

Larger became famous for the figure, having appeared in the stand-up comedy telecast Quatsch Comedy Club ( ProSieben ) and by the television program all Atze ( RTL ). In the movie 7 dwarfs - men alone in the forest (2004) she appeared as a court jester .

In 2000 and from 2002 to 2007 in the role of Atze Schröder, the actor moderated the presentation of the German Comedy Prize . Since mid-December 2008, the actor alias Atze Schröder has been moderating the Comedy Advent Calendar on RTL every year . At the beginning of January 2010, he took on the role of hosting the show Der Comedy Olymp . Since February 2019, in his role as Atze Schröder, he has been running the podcast Zärtliche Cousinen together with Till Hoheneder , with which they also go on tour. In the Podcast Betreutes Feeling , also in the role of Atze Schröder and published weekly together with the psychologist Leon Windscheid , he talks about fears, depression , polyamory and loneliness .

Controversy

Disclosure of the performer's identity

The actor of Atze Schröder refuses to disclose his civil identity and had successfully taken legal action against it. In 2005, he won the lawsuit against the tabloid Bild , which published a photo without a wig. In 2006 he was also able to defend himself against the repeated mention of his real name in the Weser-Kurier . The lawsuit aimed at deleting his name from the article on his stage character in the German-language Wikipedia in 2007 was withdrawn after the information in question was deleted from the article. The performer had to bear the costs of the legal dispute, as he had not demonstrated to what extent his interest in anonymity outweighed the public's interest in its lifting.

Legal disputes

In the stage program Pain Free , the actor as Atze Schröder made fun of the actor Fritz Wepper and his relationship with a 33 years younger woman. Wepper felt insulted and vilified and sued the District Court of Munich I for injunctive relief , damages (Ref .: U 26840/12) and compensation for pain and suffering (Ref .: 9 O 27677/12). In the first instance, Wepper failed with an application for an injunction ; However, the Munich Higher Regional Court later decided in favor of Weppers and obliged the actor from Atze Schröder to refrain from certain statements in the future. The claim for payment of damages was dismissed.

Furthermore, on March 11, 2016, a physical and verbal argument between Atze Schröder's actor and Niels Ruf should have occurred in a Cologne hotel bar . Ruf then demanded compensation for pain and suffering; there was also such an assault on him before. The hearing took place in June 2016; a prohibition of approaching the actor from three meters was set.

Another judicial controversy arose from the reporting by Bild about the dispute with Ruf, as the newspaper had named the Schröder actor's name in March 2016. An injunction for violation of his general personal rights before the Berlin Regional Court failed, in January 2018 the verdict on the main issue was issued, according to which the tabloid newspaper was allowed to name the actor. The picture reported on the verdict, naming it again; the plaintiff's lawyer, Christian Schertz , announced the step into the appeal .
