A matter of the heart e. V. is the children's aid campaign of the two public broadcasters Südwestrundfunk (SWR) and Saarländischer Rundfunk (SR) as well as the cooperative banks Sparda-Bank Südwest and Sparda-Bank Baden-Württemberg . These partners finance staff and administration of the association. A matter of the heart takes care of children and young people in Baden-Württemberg, Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland. The children's aid campaign collects donations and passes them on to selected non-profit institutions that do child and youth work. Since 2000, the association has received 40 million euros in donations and has supported more than 1000 projects for children and young people in southwest Germany.

history

The idea of ​​Herzenssache arose in 1992 in the program of the Süddeutscher Rundfunk (SDR) . In 1995 the Südwestfunk (SWF) in Rhineland-Palatinate joined the fundraising campaign. The largest funded project from the early phase of Herzenssache was the Tannheim aftercare clinic , which was supported in 1996 with more than six million marks. On February 15, 2000, the association Herzenssache was founded with its headquarters in Stuttgart .

Patron, board of directors and management

Since 2014, Herzenssache has been under the patronage of Hartmut Engler , front man of the pop band Pur . From 2005 to 2013 the former Baden-Württemberg Prime Minister Lothar Späth held the patronage, which he gave at the end of 2013 for reasons of age. The first chairperson of the children's aid campaign is Simone Schelberg , who succeeded Peter Voss in December 2007 . Gitta Haucke has been the managing director of the association since 2008.

A matter of the heart in the program of SWR and SR

Since 2009 there has been an annual live broadcast of the heart - The Great Evening on the TV programs of the SWR and SR . On that day, radio, television and the internet from the two broadcasters reported on the children's aid campaign all day. The highlight of the heartfelt day in the program is the live broadcast in the evening.
