Wespennest is a German TV film by Martin Kinkel from 2017. It is the 72nd episode of the crime series A strong team with Florian Martens and Stefanie Stappenbeck in the leading roles. It is the eighth mission of Linett Wachow alongside Otto Garber .

action

The housewife Franziska Kubsch is found stabbed to death in her house. The investigators Otto Garber, Linett Wachow and Sebastian Klöckner start the investigation. While searching the house, Linett finds the totally distraught son who was hiding in a closet. The investigators believe it is possible that he saw the killer and is now in shock. Therefore, a child psychologist is called in to try to gain the child's trust.

Team boss Reddemann assumes that Franziska Kubsch was the victim of a gang of burglars that surprised her unplanned. At the moment, reports of break-ins by organized gangs, who should not shy away from murder, are increasing in the police force. Otto and Linett are not sure about this. It could also be an act of concealment or relationship.

Sebastian Klöckner takes over the questioning of the neighbors in the settlement. It turns out that no one in the neighborhood wants to have heard of the murder. But there are findings about neighborhood disputes, which mostly relate to Ronnie Stelter and not against Franziska Kubsch. Stelter claims to have had a good relationship with the victim. But during the investigation it turns out that there were conflicts in the friendship between Ms. Kubsch and Mr. Stelter.

Although each of the neighbors seems to be suspicious, the relationship between the Kubschs and the Behrendts is special. Carina Behrendt explains that she has been friends with Franziska Kubsch for years and that they have always dreamed of being neighbors and hers Watching children grow up together. Since Henry Kubsch had bought two houses in the estate, one of which he rented to the Behrendts, this dream became a reality. Now that the murder has happened, the Behrendts even let Henry and his son Finn live with them in the house so they can find some distance and peace. However, Linett thinks that Carina Behrendt cares for the husband of the deceased a little too familiar. She also tries to take care of Finn, according to the child psychologist, like a second mother.

While the investigation is still in progress, the “strong team” succeeds in setting up the gang. During interrogation, the men deny that they stabbed Franziska Kubsch. Since they had just carried out another break-in at the time of the crime, this is sufficient for the officers as proof of their innocence. So the investigators have to keep looking for the perpetrator and motive. Linett is therefore sure that Carina Behrendt might have wanted her friend's husband to herself. According to her research, she had started an affair with him in the past. When the investigators follow up on this, they find out that the befriended families share a secret. Because Gero Behrendt is unable to reproduce, his friend Henry Kubsch stepped in “helping”. There was first talk in the neighborhood because the children look very similar. Gero Behrendt loves his daughter idolatrously and did not want her to learn this truth at any price. Franziska Kubsch, meanwhile, was sick of lying. She wanted to come out to Finn and the neighborhood. Since Gero Behrendt did not want to allow this under any circumstances, he had stabbed Franziska Kubsch with a knife lying in the kitchen.

Reviews

Tilmann P. Gangloff from tittelbach.tv draws the following verdict on this episode: “[...] the cast with Marcus Mittermeier and Friederike Kempter, among others, is well-known, Stefanie Stappenbeck and Florian Martens as an investigator duo as always worth seeing; But 'Wespennest' is still not more than a good average in this utility crime series. "

The Hamburger Abendblatt rated: “Director Martin Kinkel skilfully weaves a web of distrust and suspicion.” “The Berlin villa settlement is so idyllic that it is eerie. […] [But] the world behind the chic facades [is] not as whole […] as it seems. "

Ulrich Feld from the FNP said: “It's amazing how well the ZDF long-running hit works in its 72nd episode - vastly better than the similar Cologne crime scene“ Neighbors ”. The affairs within the settlement are not only nicely thought out and well interlinked with the plot. Screenwriter Alexander Hildebrand also thickened the story in her dialogues with a lot of subtle venom. As a result, a lurking tension develops early on, which does not subside until the end due to new discoveries. ”The only“ weak point ”of the film is the character of“ Kriminalrat Lothar Reddemann, whom Arnfried Lerche has to impersonate again and again as the half-idiot superiors of the investigators . "

The Osnabrücker Zeitung , on the other hand, said that the crime series “has been weakening for a long time. The figures, even Linett, who was newly introduced at Otto's side after the tragic death of actress Maja Maranow , are increasingly losing their original contours. Berlin only serves as a backdrop. And the cases sink into questioning monotony. In the current episode, Alexander Hildebrand (book) and Martin Kinkel (director) are giving away the high potential of deadly neighborhood antics in favor of a conventional television thriller, which unfortunately is anything but exciting.
