Burst dreams is a German television film by Florian Kern from 2016. It is the 64th episode of the crime series A strong team with Maja Maranow and Florian Martens in the leading roles. It is the last mission for Chief Detective Verena Berthold.

The building contractor Jacobs is found lifeless in the concrete of his construction site. Chief Detective Otto Garber investigates together with his colleague Verena Berthold. A motive for the crime can be found in almost everyone who knew Jacobs. The man was so unpopular that even his wife is suspected of murder. Due to insolvency proceedings that have already been opened against the construction company Jacobs, the residential estate that has begun is threatened with a construction freeze. The cheated future homeowners are all extremely angry. With additional financial means and a lot of their own manual labor, they try to complete their little kingdom. Most of them manage to do this only with great difficulty and using their last bit of strength. Intermediate loans have to be organized, which even drives one of those affected into the hands of a loan shark .
In the course of the investigation, Verena meets her old school friend Tanja Seifert. She and her husband are also among the homeowners who are now all "in the rain". Since Kai Seifert was even employed by Jacobs, the situation hits her particularly hard. Through Tanja, Verena gets an impression of how desperate the people who have been betrayed by Jacobs are. Tanja's mother, who is suffering from cancer, Johanna Harbach, lives in the half-finished house and feels the misery as well. Since she had nothing more to lose, she decided to do something about this unbearable situation. She stunned Jacobs with a stun gun and then stabbed him with a knife.
Mehmet Ataman, the son of a scaffolding worker to whom Jacobs, like so many others, owed money, discovered the man dead on the construction site. He took the cash he found on him and threw the body into the semi-solid concrete to cover his tracks.

Burst Dreams was filmed in Berlin and broadcast on ZDF for the first time on January 9, 2016 . It is the last episode of the film series A strong team with the leading actress Maja Maranow, who died on January 4, 2016, before the premiere. Accordingly, the episode had an unusually high audience rating for this series.

The film is solid crime thriller television with many well-known guest actors; slightly above average within the series, but nothing that stays in the memory. "
