Jungle Fight is a German television film by Martin Kinkel from 2010. It is the 45th episode of the crime series A strong team with Maja Maranow and Florian Martens in the leading roles.

action

A young man named Carsten Bubenberger is found dead in Berlin's prefabricated building district. According to witnesses, Bubenberger had been harassed by two men the night before. Commissioner Berthold and her colleague Otto Garber are reinforced by police chiefs Stefan Hellmich and Juri Schwendt, who are responsible for this area. Since they grew up here themselves, they feel close to the residents and know their way around here. Gunter Reddemann's LKA team can be assigned a room at the responsible police station so that they can work faster on site. The LKA officials noticed very soon that Schwendt and Hellmich have their own laws here in order to keep control of “their” neighborhood. Many minor offenses deal with them in their own way so that they don't appear in the logs.

After the initial investigations, Bubenberger was in a kind of long-term feud with Kai-Uwe Rosinski. Rosinski is known as a pimp in the neighborhood and Bubenberger was in love with one of his “girls”, so he wanted to buy Swetlana out. He wanted to earn the necessary money as a drug courier. It was because of these drugs that the men were after Bubenberger that evening. When it becomes clear that the two officers Schwendt and Hellmich had observed the process and even intervened, Berthold and Garber followed up. Both assure that Bubenberger had maximally sprained his ankle when they brought him home. It turns out, however, that Stefan Hellmich drove back to where they picked up Bubenberger that night. Here he caught him trying to get his hidden drugs. Hellmich, who liked to turn a blind eye to all crimes in his neighborhood, was no joke with drugs. His sister had already died of drug use and his girlfriend is also heavily addicted to drugs. He is doing everything possible to get her "clean" again. When he realizes that he has been convicted, he jumps out of the window in front of Berthold and Garber.

reception

criticism

Rainer Tittelbach from Tittelbach.tv wrote: “'Dschungelkampf' tells of people who fight for bare survival. Post-capitalist Darwinism that couldn't be more terrible. ”“ A good police officer often only has the semi-legal path between sheriff and social work. The mood in this part of the city, shaped by a vicious circle of misery, rubs off on the investigators, who are much more frugal with their jokes than usual. ”“ What in other crime novels often degenerates into the display of the usual suspects becomes' jungle fight 'held together by the social bracket. With the abundance of plot, the confusion does not increase as in other thrillers, but the realism content. "

The critics of the television magazine TV Spielfilm awarded the best possible rating (thumbs up) and found: ". Bitter, with respect for the characters and without sensationalism - closer comes to reality's not" The conclusion they drew "Authentic, melancholic, strong" .

Tilmann P. Gangloff wrote for Kino.de : “'Unorthodox' is a description that applies twice to this film. The term is meant to refer to the rules a patrolman uses to rule his territory. But the rating also fits this episode of the hugely successful ZDF crime series 'A strong team', because the episode is pretty out of the ordinary. Unlike usual, the story is hardly funny; instead, there is hard, callous sex and unfamiliar scenes of violence. No wonder that the shooting conditions did not meet the norm either: the action takes place in an inhospitable prefabricated housing estate without exception. "

Audience ratings

The first broadcast of Dschungelkampf on January 2, 2010 was seen by 7.05 million viewers in Germany and achieved a market share of 21.0 percent for Das Erste .
