Hungry Souls is a German television film by Markus Imboden from 2008. It is the 38th episode of the crime series A strong team with Maja Maranow and Florian Martens in the leading roles.

action

Detective Chief Inspector Verena Berthold and colleague Otto Garber initially deal with an unknown dead person at the main train station. He can be identified via a social station because he was registered as homeless there.

The next day, the psychology student Lisa Dorn is found dead in the park. They learn from the mother of the victim that their daughter was volunteering for “Free Aid” and also took care of Klaus Wagner. Since the man is a convicted violent criminal, he is immediately suspected by Ms. Dorn. The commissioners question the man who is furious about the girl's death.

The investigators learn from a fellow student that Lisa regularly went to speed dating and was looking for true love there. After the first forensic examination, she had sex with two men shortly before she died. The investigators try to find out who the men were and, after evaluating the phone calls, get to Christian Buchholz. He is a doctor and says that Lisa Dorn was only his patient. The second man was Marco Eppler, with whom the victim had met after their speed dating evening. However, Eppler is left-handed and thus ruled out as a perpetrator.

More and more clues point to Christian Buchholz, who demonstrably had more than just a medical interest in Lisa. His wife knew about the relationship and she admits that she didn't mind. On the contrary, since her husband cheated on, he had become much more attentive and she enjoyed it.

Berthold thinks it is possible that Buchholz's patient Birgit Römer is in love with him. Surprisingly, the investigators learn from her that they are both supposedly a steady couple. Birgit Römer refuses to admit that Buchholz only had eyes for Lisa. After Garber provokes her, she betrays herself and admits that she spied on Buchholz that night and when she tried to confront Lisa, they got into an argument and she killed her with a stone.

criticism

Tilmann P. Gangloff from Tittelbach-TV rated the episode positively and wrote: “'Hungry Souls' tells an unusually dark story for the ZDF series 'A strong team'. All the people involved have a pitiful existence. In spite of all this, author Katrin Bühlig succeeds in creating a concentrated crime thriller that also brings the odd comic note into the game of the Berlin investigators. Well-known actors and Markus Imboden's direction, which is sure of the pitch, complete the film which is well worth seeing.

At quotenmeter.de it says: “The new episode of 'Ein Starkes Team' is primarily convincing due to its complex course of action.” On the other hand, the implementation is disappointing, because “It gives the impression that you have tried desperately to see the episode over an hour and a half and they apparently wanted to do this by unnecessarily lengthening the scenes instead of deepening existing plots or starting a new storyline. "

The critics of the television magazine TV Spielfilm gave the best rating (thumbs up) and said: "The quiet episode looks confused at first, then predictable - but with its seriousness it is good for the series." Conclusion: "Crime meditation to love."
