Walter Kreye (born July 18, 1942 in Oldenburg (Oldb) ) is a German actor and audio book speaker .

Life

Walter Kreye is the son of radio editor and writer Walter A. Kreye . He graduated from the drama school in Bochum and then had theater engagements at the Hamburger Schauspielhaus and the Thalia Theater . Further stations were the Berlin Schaubühne on Halleschen Ufer as well as the State Theater Hanover and the State Theater Stuttgart .

From 1980 he also starred in the television series Ein Fall für Zwei , Praxis Bülowbogen , Der Fahnder or Tatort , and television films. In 2007 he succeeded Rolf Schimpf in the ZDF crime series Der Alte as Chief Inspector Rolf Herzog with the episode Doppelspiel . Because of his cancer, Kreye had to take a break since July 2011. Walter Kreye was dismissed from the producer Susanne Porsche in the role of commissioner in Der Alte because of his cancer diagnosis . Kreye was then disappointed and criticized the approach of the producer, who had informed him about the breakup in a short phone call.

After appearing on television, Kreye appeared in 2006 in the children's and youth film Mondscheinkinder in the cinema.

In 1990 he received the Grimme Silver Prize for Reporter together with Klaus Emmerich , Hans Noever , Renan Demirkan and Jürgen Holtz .

Walter Kreye is married to the actress Sabine Wegner and has two daughters and a son from his first marriage. Since 2003 he has lived with his wife in Berlin-Charlottenburg .
