Michael D'Antonio

Michael D'Antonio (born May 11, 1955 in Portsmouth , New Hampshire ) is an American journalist , non-fiction writer and screenwriter .

Life

He graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a Bachelor of Arts in 1977. He first worked as a journalist for the Portland Press Harald newspaper in Maine in 1976/77 . From 1978 to 1983 he worked in Washington, DC as a journalist for Esquire , The New York Times Magazine , The Times of London , Discover magazine , Sports Illustrated , Los Angeles Times Magazine and from 1983 to 1990 in New York for Newsday magazine and other newspapers and magazines. In 1984 he and the editorial team of Newsday received the Pulitzer Prize for research into medical, ethical and legal questions relating to the Baby-Jane-Doe-Law case . Since 1990 he has been working as a freelance author.

Michael D'Antonio wrote biographical monographs on the careers and achievements of Milton S. Hershey , Walter O'Malley , Thomas Lipton , Donald Trump , Barack Obama and the professional golfers Jack Nicklaus , Arnold Palmer , Gary Player , Lee Trevino . His books have been recognized with “Best Books of the Year” and “Editors' Picks” from The New York Times (NYT), The Christian Science Monitor (CSM), Businessweek , Chicago Tribune and Publishers Weekly .

He has appeared on 60 Minutes , Today , Good Morning America , The Morning Show , America , Larry King Live , Morning Edition , All Things Considered , The Diane Rehm Show , Coast to Coast AM, and other television shows. He lives on Long Island with his wife and two daughters .
