action

Manfred, a young and charming antique dealer, proposes marriage to the divorced pharmacist Andrea and invites her to take a cruise on the luxurious five-master Royal Clipper through the Caribbean. Andrea thinks she can hardly believe her luck, but Manfred has hardly arrived in Barbados and pretends to have to travel to New York on business . Andrea spends the first part of the trip without his company, but is soon courted by the cocky car dealer Karl and his friend, the shy widower Berthold. Manfred's arrival is delayed more and more and finally he asks Andrea in writing to receive a valuable piece of jewelry from a contact in Cuba . When Manfred finally reappears on board, he is arrested by the local police. As it turns out, he is a long-sought con man and smuggler who likes to use single women for his machinations. Andrea takes refuge in the arms of the sensitive widower Berthold.

Captain Jensen is worried about the captain's widow Gerda. She is a passionate fan of the tarot card game and believes that she can see from the cards that her fate will be fulfilled in Cuba, where her husband's ship sank years ago. The captain attentively looks after the widow, accompanies her on her walks through Havana and can finally convince her that the cards are not always right.

criticism

TV Spielfilm wrote: “Zero story, but lots of lacquered pictures. [...] In front of colorful pictures from the Caribbean, only the usual banal stories are waiting on deck. "
