Under White Sails is a six-part ARD film series that takes place on the sailing cruise ships of the Star Clippers shipping company. The first broadcast of the first film took place on March 5, 2004 in the first .

The films tell travel stories that take place as the main location of the action on the three sailing cruise ships Star Flyer , Star Clipper and Royal Clipper . The shore leave of passengers who visit the Caribbean, Mediterranean and Asia during their cruises also play an important role.

The rather shallow actions revolve around love, suffering, happiness and the longings of the passengers. The captain and the cruise manager play a central role as they act as a reference person for the passengers and are significantly involved in the action.

Of the main cast in the supporting roles include Peter Weck , Helmut Weinzierl and Fritz Wepper and starring Christine Neubauer as Cruise Manager Marlene that the mission farewell ceased their service on the Royal Clipper and the post of the Cruise Manager at Gerit Kling passed name Saskia Has. From episode three, the role of Captain Bernd Jensen is played by Horst Janson .

First, on April 6, 2006, the DVD box Under White Sails (2 DVDs) for the film series with a total length of 450 minutes was released.
