Content, characters

The commissioner Yvonne Wills is happily married to the case analyst Heiko. It is not easy for the couple to keep marriage and work separate, as their investigative work also affects their private life. While both were able to keep their distance at work in the past, this is no longer possible since Detective Director Pede decided that the Wills' should solve the homicide cases together with immediate effect.

Yvonne Wills is a commissioner with body and soul. She doesn't want to miss her work environment in the neighborhood. She grew up there, everyone knows her and she instinctively knows how to assess her surroundings. When her supervisor wants her to solve a series of murders together with her husband Heiko, who as a case analyst is more likely to sit at his desk, she cannot deny a certain skepticism.

As a case theorist, Heiko Wills is used to approaching cases analytically and purely intellectually and thus the opposite of his wife, who cannot free herself from emotions when something is very moving. Working with Yvonne is an exciting challenge for him. Heiko used to be a temporary soldier in the German Armed Forces and had at least one foreign assignment. According to his own statement, however, he spent most of this time analyzing reconnaissance data in air-conditioned rooms.

Christopher Schmitt from quotenmeter said that Mr and Mrs Bulle “ stand out from the conventional ZDF crime thriller in a number of ways.” Schmitt commented critically on the choice of the series title: “The title suggests something bad:“ Mr and Mrs Bulle ”sounds like Romcom slapstick of the worst kind. Apart from the fact that the name of the ZDF Saturday crime thriller, penned by Axel Hildebrand and implemented by Till Franzen, is almost touchingly uncreative. Fortunately, the content does not have to correspond to the packaging and the beginning of the series turns out to be absolutely worth seeing. "
