The Commissioner and the Sea (Swedish title: Kommissarien och havet ) is a German - Swedish crime series . It is loosely based on the novels by Mari Jungstedt . The series has been broadcast in Germany since 2007 on ZDF and on Sat.1 emotions , since 2009 on the Swedish private broadcaster TV4 as well as in Switzerland and Austria.

action

The main character is Commissioner Robert Anders from Germany, who lives on Gotland with his wife Line, a midwife , and their children Niklas and Ida . His assistants at the Criminal Investigation Department in Visby are Karin Jacobsson, Thomas Witt mountain and by the former Pippi Longstocking actress Inger Nilsson played pathologist Ewa Svensson.

After Line has left the family for a new professional challenge in Africa, Anders falls in love with the much younger teacher Emma Winarve, who moves in with him with her son Kasper and with whom he has daughter Enya. His two growing children leave Gotland and study in Stockholm . In episode 20, son Niklas visits his father to tell him that he has dropped out of law school and wants to move to his mother in Uganda. Karin Jacobsson only works until episode 12. She will be transferred to the mainland.

background

In the role of German-born Commissioner Robert Anders, the television series differs significantly from the novel in which the Swedish Commissioner Anders Knutas heads the investigation team. The affair with Emma Winarve has the journalist Johan Berg in Jungstedt's books.

In the Swedish version the Commissioner is called Robert Andersson.

Robert Anders, his children and assistant Thomas Wittberg are portrayed by German-speaking actors. In the second episode Friedrich von Thun has a guest role as Anders 'father, in the 4th to 6th and 8th episode Nicole Heesters as Anders' mother Kristin. Anders' wife is played by the Danish Paprika Steen, his assistant Jacobsson by the native Icelander Sólveig Arnarsdóttir. Most of the supporting roles are occupied by well-known Swedish actors, including Peter Haber and Ola Rapace (both episode 3), Angela Kovács (episode 16 and 21) or Lia Boysen (episode 8, 11 and 20).

The series is shot in several languages, each actor speaks his role in his language, then the episodes are dubbed. The locations are Hamburg and Sweden.

The authors Miguel Alexandre , Harald Göckeritz, Martina Mouchot, Clemens Murath, Henriette Piper and Thomas Roth also write scripts for the crime scene .
