Paprika Steen , real name Kirstine Steen (born November 3, 1964 in Frederiksberg ) is a Danish actress and film director .

Life

The daughter of the actress Avi Sagild and the musician Niels Jørgen Steen , after completing her acting training at the Odense Teaterskole, initially worked as a theater actress (including at the Det Kongelige Teater in Copenhagen) and appeared in several television films.

In Germany she was mainly known for her roles in several Dogma movies such as Die Idioten , Mifune - Dogma III , Das Fest and Open Hearts . She was also seen regularly in the ZDF crime series The Commissioner and the Sea as the wife of Commissioner Anders, portrayed by Walter Sittler . In addition to the Baltic Film Prize for her directorial debut Lasset die Kinder (2004), she received several other awards, including four times the Danish Bodil Prize and three times the Robert of the Danish Film Academy.
