Plot and characters

Andreas "Andi" Schwartz is a private detective and the black sheep of the family. Mathias "Mads" Schwartz, Andi's younger brother, is a detective on long-term crime duty . After solving other criminal offenses, he has to solve his first murder case at the side of his brother in the opening episode My First Murder .

Andi Schwartz is a charming man, but unfortunately very unreliable. He works as a detective, for him a job that keeps him afloat. After a bad incident in the past, he had lost contact with his brother Mads for years and he pretends to run a well-running security company. Andi Schwartz only trusts his own laws and works with all (not even legal) tricks to achieve his goals.

Mads Schwartz is the opposite of his brother. He is happily married, a family man and incorruptible in his job as a police officer. Schwartz is considered one of the best civil servants in Berlin's permanent criminal service. Mads Schwartz believes in the power of state power. Just when he got his first big case transferred to the Berlin homicide squad, his brother Andi reappeared in his life. As in his past, this has far-reaching consequences: Due to Andi's fault, he has to give up his service with the police. To support his family, he accepts his brother's suggestion to work with him as a detective. Mads benefits from his good connections to the police, especially to Commissioner Iris Doppelbauer.
