Permanent crime service

The Criminal Police Service ( KDD ) is a "round the clock" on-call service of the German criminal police . The employees of the crime service work in shifts. First and foremost, the KDD takes on the evaluation attack and the first criminal police measures on the presumed order of the relevant crime commissioner or the relevant criminal inspection.

In the case of crime scenes or criminal offenses that require more staff, the KDD is also authorized or obliged to inform the actually responsible department outside of normal working hours. If necessary, they will then immediately take over further processing . In addition, with larger is documentation the alarming of supervisors and emergency services a central task.

Since the structure of the police is fundamentally a matter for the federal states, the structure of the permanent detective service differs from state to state. Basically, however, a KDD is available in every larger police headquarters or every larger police headquarters . The State Criminal Police Office and the Federal Criminal Police Office also maintain a KDD.

In some departments there is still a regular on- call service that can be called up by the service via the local police officer .
