The main guest roles are Marie-Lou Sellem , Fritzi Haberlandt , Nina Goceva , Samuel Finzi , Hansi Jochmann and Andreas Döhler .

action

The case analyst Heiko Wills is called to one of the Berlin cemeteries where body parts were found that could not be assigned. He speculates that a corpse may have been distributed among several graves to complicate investigations and cover up traces.

At the same time, his wife Yvonne Wills and her colleague Kevin Lukowski are pursuing the likely murderer of the accountant Carsten Volkmann, who has a young woman in his power. They manage to save the kidnapped woman, who, to Yvonne Will's surprise, turns out to be her great niece Yvonne. However, the suspect manages to escape. The accountant's death occurred from cardiac arrest. Wills wants to know from his wife whether there is any connection between the victims. “None that we know of,” she replies. However, then it turns out that the first victim worked for Ekatarina Milov as an accountant, and Lara is her daughter. With Kreolova GmbH, Milov disposed of garbage on a large scale and thus became rich. The name Norbert Welke, a competitor of Kreolova GmbH, also comes into play. The man has been missing for three years. The suspicion circulated that Ekatarina Milov might have had something to do with it. Your reputation is not the best. Before his disappearance, Welke was even more successful in the garbage business than Milov and was just about to land a huge contract, which after his disappearance went to Kreolova GmbH. Heribert Welke, the son of the disappeared man, stalked Ekatarina Milov.

An attempt is made to kidnap Lara from the hospital, but this can be thwarted. She is taken to the Wills' house, where she is believed to be safe. Her mother is said to be in close contact with Vadim Kaparow and Maximilian Gorosky, the heads of the Russian mafia in Germany, who are responsible for at least 17 contract killings, drug and human trafficking. A Steffen Gafroy from the BKA enters the office of Detective Director Pede, the superior of the Wills, without being asked. At the same time, Lara escapes the Wills' house at a favorable moment, but can quickly be brought back to safety. All of a sudden, Pede revokes his statements regarding Milov's contacts with the Russian mafia. At this point in time nobody knows that this has to do with the appearance of Gafroy.

After tracking down Heribert Welke, it quickly becomes clear that he has nothing to do with the sudden disappearance of Ekatarina Milov. Heiko Wills learns from his colleague Diane Springer that Lara has been picked up by the police officer Ricarda Bronkewitz, who was suspended a year ago. She seemed to know them and to agree. Bronkewitz has lost her husband and her eight-year-old son in a fire at their landfill, ordered by Ekatarina Milov, which released toxic gases and reached a nearby campsite. Since then she has been after Ekatarina Milov. She tied her up in an old construction trailer and is now also tying Lara up and pouring gasoline over her. Her mother should see her on fire, that is her punishment, she proclaims. At the last moment, the Wells can step in and free mother and daughter.

The colleague Gafroy from the BKA had been arrested shortly before by detective director Pede for obstruction of punishment in office.

Questions to Dwyer, von Bülow, Schade and Kalkhof

Johann von Bülow replied to Christiane Beeck's question about what has changed between the opposing Wills couple since the two previous cases and to what extent the cooperation affects the relationship between them: “Yvonne is still not enthusiastic about being with her husband determine. Heiko, on the other hand, still likes it very much, after all, he always likes to be around his wife. She, on the other hand, is looking for distance, because this case leads to the environment of Yvonne's family, and caution is called for, after all, nobody knows, not even her own husband, that she has not quite told the truth about her origin. So it has to go two ways. But Heiko wouldn't be Heiko if he would react as expected. "Alice Dwyer commented on the question why Yvonne was not enthusiastic about working with Heiko from her point of view. The couple have very different approaches to their investigative work. Yvonne is much tougher than Heiko and sometimes has the feeling that Heiko's care stands in the way. She is also bothered by the fact that he likes to call her "sweetheart" in front of colleagues. Von Bülow responded to the assumption that there are many illegal landfills in Brandenburg and how much reality there is in this film with regard to the topic of the “garbage mafia”, that a lot of money can be made with the disposal of garbage, which certainly also attracts criminals who would dump the garbage on illegal landfills in Brandenburg. Author Axel Hildebrand even incorporated his own expertise into the film - as he supposedly knows the son of a “garbage patriarch” privately. He therefore assumes that his research is correct. Maybe not about the end of the film, but of course they don't want to reveal that.

Birge Schade, who plays Diane, Heiko Wills' right-hand man, replied to the corresponding question that both of them particularly appreciate the mutual loyalty to each other. In addition, they were both very enthusiastic about their "perpetrators". Tim Kalkhof said about his character that Kevin is more of the "solid" type who relies on his physical presence and his good contacts with the street. He is a real Berliner with his heart in the right place, who likes to interpret the law a little more generously.

reception

Publication, audience rating

When it was first broadcast on May 16, 2020 during prime time on ZDF , the film reached 5.48 million viewers. This resulted in a market share of 17.5 percent.

criticism

Tilmann P. Gangloff gave the film 4½ out of 6 possible stars on the tittelbach.tv website and praised it: “After a mixed start and a significantly better second episode, 'Mr and Mrs Bulle' […] with 'garbage' is finally establishing itself as an enrichment for the Saturday thriller on ZDF. The story is not bad, but the implementation is even better, especially since Fabian Möhrke staged the sometimes macabre humor of the script (Axel Hildebrand) with sovereign understatement. In addition to the constellation of the investigator couple Yvonne and Heiko Wills [...], the stimulus in terms of content lies again in the personal involvement: The Berlin 'garbage empress' turns out to be Yvonne's great aunt. The film would be worth seeing just because of the grandeur with which Marie-Lou Sellem embodies this wonderfully clichéd Russian immigrant. Fritzi Haberlandt, Samuel Finzi and Andreas Döhler are involved in other small but fine roles. "

On the Golden Camera page , the film received four out of five possible cameras because “the mix of humor and suspense is not for the bin! This cop couple is simply convincing ”.

Tilmann P. Gangloff wrote in the Frankfurter Rundschau : “After Till Franzen and Uwe Janson, Fabian Möhrke is the third director for the third film and has perfected the style of the series: With 'Abfall', 'Herr und Frau Bulle' becomes an enrichment of the Crime Saturdays on ZDF. The electronic music by Andreas Koslik, who played a decisive role in ensuring that the crime thriller wasn't a comedy, not only creates tension in the action scenes. The image design by Tim Kuhn is also exceptionally good. The cameraman invested a lot of time in setting the lights, especially for the night shots inside and outside. ”[…] Fritzi Haberlandt as a commissioner from Brandenburg and Samuel Finzi as the BKA officer have“ small but fine roles ”. “The participation of the prominent guest actors” speaks for “both the quality of the script and Möhrke's good reputation”. Gangloff also emphasized that the “appeal of the series” lies in the “contrast between the two main characters”.

Julian Miller fromquotemeter.de couldn’t win anything from this German crime thriller either and said that the result of the film unfortunately shows a rather outmoded distribution of roles with regard to the investigating couple. “The man” does “the content, and the woman” feels “really great”. And further: “Which in this brutal simplicity perpetuates a certain reactionary reading of gender relations that one would actually no longer expect in this form in mainstream television in 2020. An 'equal' pair of investigators would have been the better, because they were more equal, solution. "
