Maria Mägdefrau (also Rosemarie Mägdefrau ; born June 10, 1936 in Berlin-Weißensee ) is a German actress and director .

Life

Maria Mägdefrau received her acting training at the State Drama School in Berlin . She studied drama at a distance.

She had her first engagement from 1957 to 1959 at the Altmark Theater in Stendal . In 1959 she moved to the Meininger Theater , where she gave, among other things, Klärchen in Egmont and the leading role in Jeanne or Die Lerche as well as Pauline Piperkarcka in Die Ratten . She was then engaged at Theater Plauen from 1964 to 1985 and took on roles in Faust , Minna von Barnhelm and Hamlet . She had her first film role in … damn, I'm an adult (1974), directed by Rolf Losansky .

In 1986 she moved to West Berlin and has been working as a freelancer ever since. In the same year she had the first role in a television series. She continued to take on theater roles, for example at the Schaubühne am Lehniner Platz ( Macbeth , 1989), at the Chemnitz Theater ( Der zerbrochne Krug , 1990), at the Münster Municipal Theaters (Der Wald, 1992) and at the Hebbel Theater (Der Sondeur, 1994 ).

Together with her sister Anna, she founded the “Mägdefrauentheater” in the Kumuli art school in Berlin-Wilmersdorf, which was founded in 1979, in which she stages plays for children on a literary basis.
