Week after week is a German television film from the year 2009. The family - comedy tells the story of a divorce a couple Elten from the perspective of the child, Felix vineyard. The film was produced by the Cinecentrum Berlin on behalf of the WDR . The film was broadcast for the first time on March 11, 2009 in the program of Das Erste . The main characters in the film are seven-year-old Felix Weingarten ( Jannis Michel ) himself, Felix's parents Miriam and Paul Weingarten , ( Tanja Wedhorn and Hans-Jochen Wagner ) and Felix's best friend Cerem , whose parents come from Turkey. Felix's inner turmoil is discussed in the film. This inner conflict is also expressed in Felix's monologues , in which he does not audibly pray to God for those around him .

action

At the beginning of the film, Felix's parents split up. The parents would like to continue to take over custody of their child together. They agree to look after Felix for a whole week and to leave the care to the other parent in the following week ( parity change model ). This Solomonic solution quickly turns out to be a burdensome procedure for all parties. Felix's parents therefore no longer see themselves in a position to endure the process any longer.

You talk about this with the family therapist Dr. Theodor Samel . The conflicts between them that have hitherto been kept in the background come to light, for example the parents' different educational ideas. While the mother tries to encourage Felix to the best of her knowledge and accordingly sends him to various courses (yoga ...), the father believes he has to give his son a lot of freedom. He goes to the kart track or the cinema with him. Miriam is also jealous of Paul because he is having an affair with Nike Svensson . Felix, who does not attend the therapy sessions , believes the therapist was partly to blame for his parents' arguments.

When Paul is visited by his wife in his carpentry workshop, Miriam says that she wrote the invitation cards for Felix's birthday and invited all the children to her place. This is not acceptable for the father, as he is responsible for taking care of Felix this week. In the ensuing argument, he asked her to sell the car and find a job. In return, she demands that he return the key to the apartment she lives in.

In the subsequent conversation between the parents and Dr. Samel suggests that the birthday should not be held either with the father or with the mother, but in a neutral place. The parents opt for an indoor playground . Since the invitation cards have already been written and distributed, Felix has to distribute the invitations again. Most of the invited children are confused by this. The only guests are Felix's maternal family and Cerem. Cerem's big brother, however, quickly leaves the birthday together with Cerem.

In the next few days, Miriam will report to the employment office. There she falls in love with her recruiter, Holger Bartel . The recruiter quickly finds out how the parents look after Felix. He and his wife would have done exactly the same with their daughter. However, since they were overwhelmed, they would have finally agreed on a different procedure.

Since Felix's suspicion that Dr. Samuel would fuel the argument between his parents, and Felix decides to contact Dr. To avenge Samuel . He lies in wait for the therapist in front of his practice. When he leaves the practice, he shoots him with his twin. But the psychologist saw him and followed him into the park. Dr. Samuel only knew Felix from stories told by his parents. Therefore, he does not recognize Felix and initially assumes an ordinary prank . He therefore wants to know the names of his parents. Only after Felix says his parents' name does he recognize him.

The psychotherapist then decides to invite Felix to his home. There he talks to Felix about his motives . When it turns out that Felix is angry with the psychotherapist, Dr. Let him know that his worries are unfounded. Felix realizes that he has hurt the psychologist and decides to give him a reparation, a wooden figure split in the middle.

At the next appointment of the parents with the psychologist, the latter places the figure openly on the desk for the parents, but without explicitly pointing it out. The psychologist now sets new rules of the game. Felix should no longer be the subject of discussions with the psychologist. In the next few days, the situation eased for both Felix and his parents. When Miriam, Paul, Holger Bartel and Nike Svensson eat together with Felix and Holger Bartel's daughter from his divorced marriage, the plot suggests that Miriam and Paul will come together again and, probably, Holger Bartel and Nike Svensson too . Felix leaves the room with Holger Bartel's daughter and asks God to take care of the adults, he is fine now.

criticism

"Thoughtful family comedy about the situation of children separated and divorced, who are exposed to the behavior of their parents without protection."

“Once again, director Martin Gies shot a drama, but this time it can only convince in places. The story, which he staged like "Reife Leistungs" based on a script by Silke Zertz, seems too constructed. For example, the fate of little Felix is not further explored after an opening sequence, rather the story concentrates on the network of relationships between the two spouses living separately. Acceptable TV fare only thanks to well-humored actors! "

“TV divorce comedy with subtle wit. [...] The film tells the drama of a divorce from a child's point of view in a laconic and light manner. [...] A serious subject, told as light as a feather "
