action

Anastasia Novikova is found dead in her apartment. At first glance, the case seems clear: after an evening together, she was murdered by her date, Carsten Auerswald. The situation changes quickly when the “strong team” finds out that Nowikowa entered Germany under a false name. Her real name was Maria Koslowa and she worked as a contract killer for the Russian mafia. She was commissioned by them to kill Carsten Auerswald, as he happened to witness a mafia murder and is supposed to testify against the head of this organization as a key witness in a trial in three days.

The task of the “strong team” is now to find Auerswald in front of the Russian mafia together with the colleagues from organized crime . Auerswald cleverly manages to hide himself from his pursuers, who he never knows whether they are good guys or bad guys. He went into hiding and only switched his cell phone on briefly so that it couldn't reveal his whereabouts. Since the henchmen are always one step ahead of them, the investigators are wondering whether there is possibly a mole in the police force. An uninvolved young person tragically fell victim to the contract killer who was put on Auerswald after Maria Koslowa.

According to research by colleagues from Organized Crime, the killer is likely to be Igor Petrov. He had obviously been in contact with the chief public prosecutor for the past two days. There, the secretary Sonja Kettel explains that the man pretended to be a journalist and asked for an appointment with her boss. Since Petrov was alone in the room for a short time, the investigators are sure that he obtained information on the current status of the investigation.

After Auerswald's hiding place could be found, he now roams penniless through the streets of Berlin. When he contacts a work colleague to borrow money from him, Garber and Wachow can finally find and arrest Auersbach. During interrogation he admits that the woman who had accompanied him that evening had injured her neck with a corkscrew, whereupon she bled to death. However, this was a self-defense reaction because she wanted to kill him from behind with a wire loop. The corkscrew would have been the first thing that fell into his hands. Since he did not trust the police, he did not inform them and preferred to flee.

Auersbach is brought to a safe house under strict personal protection . But he's not really safe here either, because Petrow is now resorting to Plan B and kidnapping Auersbach's son and ex-wife. He sends him the information about this via his internal channels, whereupon Auersbach can escape his guards. Although he is only supposed to withdraw his testimony to the public prosecutor, he prefers to take the liberation of his family into his own hands. The investigators follow him and Petrow is shot dead by special investigator Klöckner during the operation. This rather hasty elimination appears to Garber suspicious, which is why he considers Klöckner to be the "mole". But he is wrong, because in the end his colleague Wellenbrink can be convicted of treason. To avoid conviction, she judges herself and shoots herself with her service weapon.

After successfully closing the case, team member Ben Kolberg announced that he had passed his sailing license and had taken a year off to sail around the world.

Reviews

Tilmann P. Gangloff from tittelbach.tv said about this episode: “The 70th crime thriller from the ZDF series 'Ein starkes Team' is a thriller worth seeing with a small but decisive blemish, which at least one savvy crime lover in the second half brings not insignificant part of their pleasure. Otherwise, however, “Battleship” remains true to the new direction of the classic & tells a not new, but interesting story at a remarkable level of craftsmanship. "

At the FAZ , Jörn Wenge judged: “The showdown of the solidly staged TV piece by director Martin Kinkel has a surprising - and painful twist in store for the investigators. 'A strong team' negotiates weighty issues: corruption in authorities and organized crime. "

Julian Miller fromquotemeter.de assessed quite soberly: “'Driven hunt' is a solid thriller for all-eyed people, told without ambition, and flawlessly, but cranked down cool. 'A strong team' does nothing wrong in this episode, but neither does it right - and gives the impression of slowly but surely dying of arbitrariness. "

Ulrich Feld from the FNP , however, said: “The film has [...] numerous unnecessary weaknesses and bad scenes - astonishing considering the beautiful basic idea. Dominic Raacke is still one of the strengths, who as a chased loser also has the best role in the film. But he also fights in vain against scenes in which you can only shake your head. ”“ An ending with a bang would have gone much better with the story. However, the film remains far below its potential in other ways: a strong story, but a weak moment in the series. Too bad."
